[J-Drama] Mei-Chan no Shitsuji (2010)

Mei-chan_no_Shitsuji_  Shinonome Mei is an ordinary girl who lives an ordinary life as a daughter of a small town udon restaurant. She lived a quiet and happy life with her parents and  close friends, Shibata Kento and Natsumi. However when an accident suddenly takes her parents lives her whole world turns upside down. That is when she meets Shibata Rihito, a man who introduces himself as her butler and reveals to her that she is no ordinary person but the heiress to a multimillion conglomerate. Because of this, she enters St. Lucia’s Academy where she is tasked to become a real lady to make all her dreams come true. However, she discovers that being a lady is not easy – and making herself accepted in this elitist society is even harder than she thought.

satotakeru This romantic comedy is a light and fluffy comedy that takes you to a fantasy world where all women are ladies and the men live to serve. The drama is filled with colorful characters and personalities. It is sweet, fun and very entertaining. The best part is seeing all the ikemen lined up in suits, and imagining that you could be one of the St. Lucia girls and having Hiro Mizushima or Osamu Mukai or even Sato Takeru at your beck and call.

I mean, HOLY GOD, who wouldn’t want a butler with a face like that? I mean seriously. Plus, HIro’s smart and well learned and smooth. He totally owned this character.

However, it’s a girl’s fantasy and my guess is that boys would find the drama a bit too cheesy and corny.

Enjoyed this drama, but would have liked it more if it had the “Princess Diaries” or “My Fair Lady” or “Pretty Woman” appeal to it. I would like to see a real transformation go on with Mei. But as it is, its satisfactory enough to soothe my fluffy tooth.
