[Word 100 Challenge] 008. ASDFSDLKJFAKLJ is completely comprehensible.

What the hell is Marikit saying? That gibberish up there couldn’t possibly be a word right? Marikit… you’re doing a word challenge and what the hell is that?

I tell you that that is completely comprehensible and it means a lot of things.  No, its not some form of alien language and no, I am not going crazy. And my computer’s keyboard didn’t break. That’s called a keysmash.

Urban Dictionary defines it as:

A term used for the random smashing of letters on the keyboard by a person to express incoherent delight or frustration over something, It is also randomly hitting your keyboard to express an extreme emotion. Works for excitement, anger, fangrilyness, and a whole bunch of other things, including adjectives.

OIUOIJljkfdafjkldsflhd lakjfh!!!!! I lost the damn file! I am soooooo going to die today. (frustration/anger)

GIRL, THAT WAS ADSADGASKDHGASDKHJGADFDSAFSAF!!!  DAIGO WAS fafjasdfja HOT in that video. (fangirliness)

It is usually done when one cannot find a word/ is at a loss of words for something. If you are a fangirl/ boy you know this. To express in keysmashes could mean that what you are feeling couldn’t be contained in mere words. It’s something that others could easily understand in context and could just imagine what you are feeling.

Being a fangirl myself, I have done this a million times. I have keysmashed for things like Idols, songs, movies, books, games, people, fanfiction, etc. Name it, I probably keysmashed over it at some point. Key smashing is an effective way to relieve and express what I want to say and not stress over thinking what word is correct to use for this occassion.

Keysmashing is actually something that is satisfying. If you have something to express and can’t… try it. It helps relieve that feeling that’s bottled up in you. A few keysmashes and you’re all alright. It helps relieve the frustration, it helps expresses your thoughts and hey, it’s fun!!

A 30 something fangirl, writer, artist and dreamer, a princess by day and ninja by night who believes in magic, true love and wants to change the world one brush stroke at a time. Marikit is a self-taught artist learning more about art and the world around her.
